Box ScoreFresh off a series sweep of the Pirates, the Milwaukee Brewers welcomed the Cincinnati Reds to town for a three-game series that started on Monday night. The Brewers sent Eric Lauer to the mound, and things did not exactly go very well for him. The Reds pounced on Lauer early in the first inning. Jonathan India led off the game with a single, then moved to second when Jesse Winker walked. Nick Castellanos moved both runners up with a productive out, then Tyler Stephenson walked to load the bases. Joey Votto brought the game first run home with an RBI groundout, making it 1-0. The Brewers answered back in the bottom of the first with a solo homer from Dan Vogelbach that tied the game, but the score didn stay that way for long Jackie Bradley Jr. Face Mask . In the second inning, Aristedes Aquino started things off with a leadoff walk. Kyle Farmer singled, then pitcher Vladimir Gutierrez bunted unsuccessfully into a fielder choice, with the lead runner getting caught at third base. It hardly mattered, though, as Jonathan India doubled to score the runner from second and make it 2-1. Winker followed with a single that made it 3-1, then a Nick Castellanos RBI groundout pushed the score to 4-1. Milwaukee got one run back in the bottom of the second, with a Jace Peterson single, a Jackie Bradley Corey Ray Pillow Cover , Jr. double, and then a sac fly by the pitcher Eric Lauer. Two runs on four hits would be all that Milwaukee could muster in this game, though, as the Brewers didn record a single base hit from the third inning on, and only put one runner on base the rest of the game Christian Yelich walked in the sixth inning. Lauer wound up settling in a bit after his initial struggles, getting through five innings with those four runs allowed on five hits, four walks, and three strikeouts. But the Red piled more runs on against the bullpen. Eric Yardley gave up two runs in the seventh, his second inning of work. Hunter Strickland made his Milwaukee debut with a scoreless inning, but Hoby Milner gave up two singles, a double, and a home run while yielding four more runs in the ninth inning.
